The kids started school this week and while the time usually means a time of restructuring and established routines, this year’s reality with COVID has us all a bit more exhausted and off balance, as they are here at home and learning virtually. While I don’t often write about the chronic pain associated with my connective tissue disorder, Ehlers Danlos Syndrome, those who know me know that it is a daily struggle to put on a smile and act like the pain isn’t there. I mask it well, sometimes too well, and others see me as “normal.” In truth, my body aches all over, 365 days a year. That’s my normal. I tire easily and my joints dislocate or sublex at the most inopportune times. When I need relief, I need it yesterday.
